Senior India batter KL Rahul endured a tough time in the opening round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. While playing for India A, Rahul struggled through most of his innings and was eventually bowled by the offspinner Washington Sundar.

The match is played between India A and India B at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. During the 49th over of India A's first innings, Washington Sundar came in to bowl his second over of the match and KL Rahul was on strike.

Sundar bowled a gentle offspinning delivery outside off stump. KL Rahul tried to paddle sweep the ball but the sharp turn of the ball did him in.

The ball beat Rahul's attempted paddle sweep and hit the leg stump. It was just the seventh ball of the match for Washington Sundar and he provided his team with a big wicket.

KL Rahul was dismissed for 37 off 111 balls. He struck 4 fours during his knock, however, he did not look fluent throughout his knock. The 32-year-old was beaten several times on Day 2 as the ball went past his inside and outside edge a numerous times.

KL Rahul and Riyan Parag stitch a great partnership

Despite not looking in great touch, Rahul was able to stitch an important partnership with Riyan Parag for the third wicket. Parag was dismissed for 30 off 64 balls but was dismissed in the morning session of Day 3 by fast bowler Navdeep Saini.

KL Rahul and Riyan Parag stitched a valiant partnership of 79 runs for the third wicket and brought India A's innings back on track. But India B bowlers had other ideas as they applied pressure early on Day 3.

After the fall of Parag's wicket, wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel was also dismissed soon for just 2 runs. With India B struggling on 169-5, Shivam Dube and Tanush Kotian tried to resurrect the innings. Dube was starting to settle down but was soon dismissed by fast bowler Mukesh Kumar for 20.

Mukesh Kumar comes back strongly on Day 3

Mukesh soon trapped Kuldeep Yadav right in front for his second wicket of the match. The right-arm seamer left a tough day behind on Day 2 and came back strongly on the morning of Day 3 as he provided his team with important breakthroughs.

Another fellow fast bowler Navdeep Saini is having a great match as he picked up the big wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, and Dhruv Jurel. Saini's performance came after his brilliant fifty while batting. He scored 56 off 144 balls and helped his team get out of trouble in difficult circumstances.

The Duleep Trophy 2024 is an important tournament and also the start of India's domestic season. A no. of India internationals are playing in the tournament to prepare for a long Test season ahead.
