Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star all-rounder Krunal Pandya got out in a bizarre manner in the Indian Premier League 2025 match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, May 29.
Krunal Pandya's hit-wicket dismissal led to him joining the former Pakistan National Cricket Team skipper Misbah-ul-Haq in an unwanted list for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

RCB star Krunal Pandya gets dismissed hit-wicket
Pandya played a match-winning knock of unbeaten 73 runs for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the Delhi Capitals on April 27, away from home, while chasing the target.
That sensational performance seems to have not given a whole lot of confidence to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team management, as he was sent to bat at the No.7 spot while chasing 232 runs against SRH.
Krunal Pandya arrived in the middle after the wicket of Romario Shepherd in the 16th over at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow when RCB came under tremendous pressure.
Krunal was unable to make any major contributions with the bat while batting down the order as he only scored 8 runs off 6 balls, with two fours, before getting out in a bizarre manner.
On the fourth ball of the 19th over, Pat Cummins bowled a wide yorker to Krunal Pandya, who went deep inside the crease and tried to smash the ball. However, he only managed to hit the stumps with the bat and got out hit-wicket.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru eventually got out for 189 runs in 19.5 overs and faced a 42-run loss. Meanwhile, with his hit-wicket dismissal, Krunal became just the third RCB batter after Misbah-ul-Haq and Saurabh Tiwary to get out in such fashion in IPL history.

That is what we are playing for right now - Dinesh Karthik on RCB achieving a top two finish
Speaking ahead of the match to the broadcasters, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik said that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are aiming for a top two finish. He said:
"Midway through the season, we set a goal for ourselves of trying and achieving a top two finish. That is what we are playing for right now. These are two important games for us. We will try and get to the top two if possible, and then we will take it from there."
Dinesh Karthik further said that the long break of over two weeks has helped the Royal Challengers Bengaluru players freshen up. He said:
"In a way, it has been a welcome change. The boys are very fresh and ready to go. In this kind of tournament, sometimes that kind of intensity might be tiring a bit, especially towards the back end of the tournament. This break has come, and we are embracing it with both hands. Definitely, it was a break for every team. Hopefully, we can make use of the slightly longer break and show the freshness when we get on the field."
Dinesh Karthik further said that the break also helped RCB skipper Rajat Patidar recover very well from his finger injury. He stated:
"Absolutely. Rajat Patidar has got extra time to recover. It is a very good thing for us. It is a big positive for us. On the other hand, we lost Devdutt Padikkal. He couldn't be fit. We miss him. But we have got Mayank Agarwal. He is a talent, as we all know. He has been through the IPl for many, many years. Looking forward to him being in action."
