There was a dramatic twist in the ongoing India vs Bangladesh first Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Day 1, when Litton Das tried to recreate the infamous Alex Carey-Jonny Bairstow controversy with a daring attempt to run out Yashasvi Jaiswal.

However, the Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter’s attempt fell flat and added to his woes. At crunch time, Das threw off his glove in a bid to disrupt Jaiswal's run, but his efforts were in vain.

In the fourth ball of the 30th over, Hasan Mahmud sent down a wide down the leg side, which Das could only partially stop with a diving right hand. The ball flew to the boundary for byes, and the pressure mounted on Das.

With the young Indian cricket team opener repeatedly walking out of his crease, the Bangladesh wicketkeeper seemed intent on catching him out, but the timing and execution did not match to run Jaiswal out in Chennai.

Watch here how Das failed miserably:

Das's failure to repeat the Alex Carey-Jonny Bairstow controversial moment left the fans and commentator, who witnessed intense pressure turn into high drama at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in India vs. Bangladesh first Test, stunned.

Nahid Rana gets the batter of Yashasvi Jaiswal with a sharp delivery

Meanwhile, Nahid Rana dismissed Jaiswal with a sharp delivery that found the outside edge. Rana's extra pace caught Jaiswal off guard, leading to a thick edge that Shadman Islam at first expertly caught. The short-length ball on the stumps, angling away from just outside off-stump, saw the Indian opener opening up a little bit but remaining on the back foot.

His edge was well-placed, but Shadman took a stunning catch to end Jaiswal's gritty innings. The 22-year-old returned back to the pavilion after scoring 56 runs off 118 balls studded with boundaries against the confident and cleaver bowling attack of the Bangladesh team.

Notably, after early setbacks, Team India has been gradually building on their innings, as Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant (39) provided some stability to the hosts after Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6) were sent back to the pavilion cheaply by the Bangladesh pacer Mahmud.

India in deep trouble as KL Rahul dismissed by Miraz

Mahmood alone is proving to be a huge threat to India's star-studded batting line-up, as the pacer scalped all four wickets so far in the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. However, Bangladesh managed to keep things tight and maintain pressure on India.

Well, India lost two more wickets in quick succession, as KL Rahul failed to live up to the expectations, falling to the Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz for just 16 runs off 32 balls to leave Team India in deep trouble. Now, the Indian all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are leading the charge, with the scorecard reading 149/6 in 43 overs.

The way Bangladesh is bowling, it seems highly unlikely that India can go past the 200-run mark in their first innings in Chennai. It is totally visibly how the Tigers’ confidence is soaring high after a great start in the match, all thanks to their historic whitewash of Pakistan in the two-match Test series in Pakistan.
