Marcus Stoinis, on Saturday (May 24), starred with the bat to help Punjab Kings post a big total of 206/8 in the allotted 20 overs against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Punjab Kings were reeling at 144/5 in the 16th over when the Australia star joined captain Shreyas Iyer in the middle. And the veteran allrounder went on to play a blistering cameo to help his side post a 200-plus total. He smashed an unbeaten 44 runs off just 16 balls with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Marcus Stoinis fired on all cylinders right from the start, and the two bowlers who came in his firing line were Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma. Stoinis took both the pacers to the cleaners in the death overs to propel his side to the big total.
He first targeted Mukesh in the 17th over. After Shreyas Iyer took a single on the first ball of the over, Stoinis hit the second for a six. It was followed by a wide before Stoinis another si,x and Mukesh Kumar then bowled another wide.
On the fourth ball of the over, Stoinis hit the Delhi Capitals for a four before taking a single. Iyer then ended the over by hitting another four as Mukesh gave away 25 runs.
In the 19th over, Stoinis decided to go after Mohit, hitting the pacer for two sixes and as many fours. With Kuldeep Yadav conceding only 3 runs in the 18th over, Punjab Kings needed a big over, and Stoinis took the onus on himself to deliver with the bat.

Marcus Stoinis was down with COVID:
Speaking at the end of the innings, Marcus Stoinis revealed that he had Covid during the IPL 2025 break when he was back in Australia.
The allrounder had left for his home immediately after the IPL was suspended for a week earlier this month. After the tournament began, Stoinis did not join the Punjab Kings squad immediately and missed the game against the Rajasthan Royals.
"Unfortunately I had Covid. So rested and came back up," said Stoinis.
