India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami didn't have a great start to the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The summit clash is taking place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Mohammed Shami, yet again, didn't look in good rhythm with the ball and was taken for some runs in the powerplay by the New Zealand batters. The fast bowler not only gave runs but also went on to drop a crucial catch of Rachin Ravindra, who looked in golden touch with the bat.

Mohammad Shami dropped the catch of Rachin Ravindra off his bowling in the 7th over. The New Zealand batter chipped the ball back to the bowler as he got forward and played it towards the left of the pacer. The India pacer got scared as he ducked under it and immediately realised he had a chance to take it.

As he took his hand out, the ball hit the end of the left hand and with strapping on that hand, he failed to take the catch. Also, as the ball struck Shami hard on the left hand, blood was dripping from his hand, and the physio immediately got to work.

This didn't go well with captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they fumed at the fast bowler not taking the catch of in-form Rachin Ravindra.

Kuldeep Yadav brings India back in game with two wickets

Thankfully for Mohammed Shami, the dropped chance didn't cost much as Kuldeep Yadav dropped Rachin Ravindra. The left-hander, who was dropped by Shreyas Iyer, was back in the hut in the 11th over of the innings.

Kuldeep Yadav produced a peach as the ball went through the bat-pad gap. Rachin Ravindra played a brutal hand of 37 runs off 29 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 127 and also slammed 4 fours and 1 six and put India under massive pressure with the fiery start that he gave.

The wicket changed the complexion of the game as it brought India back into the game. Kuldeep Yadav oozed his class with the ball yet again as after that he removed Kane Williamson as well to leave New Zealand tottering at 75/3 in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Mohammed Shami was expensive in his first spell

Mohammed Shami, in his first spell, bowled 5 overs and ended up giving 30 runs. The fast bowler would be hoping to turnaround things in his next spells. Skipper Rohit Sharma would want his senior pacer to take responsibility for the death and restrict them to a low total.

Along with Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy has been in the wickets column. The mystery spinner provided his team with the first breakthrough as he removed Will Young. For New Zealand, the onus will be on Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham to take their team to a big total.
