The incident occurred on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy 2026 final between South Zone and East Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. East Zone captain Mohammed Siraj bowled a well-directed bouncer to Ishan Kishan on Saturday, September 6, who was caught off guard.
Siraj and Kishan exchanged a few words after the delivery. But there was no big tension between the two Indian teammates. The two players were soon seen smiling and joking with each other, making it clear the moment was no more than friendly banter.
Siraj continued to test Kishan with short-pitched deliveries, adding more spice to their battle. Kishan had to deal with the extra pace and bounce coming from the South Zone pacer. However, their confrontation remained a light-hearted contest and went viral on social media.
Siraj’s aggressive bowling added to the drama. Kishan wanted to enjoy the challenge. Siraj was trying to bowl at Kishan and put him under pressure. But the smiles between the two showed the sledging was all part of the competitive spirit of the game.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has been in good form in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final as he smashed a brilliant century for East Zone against South Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The East Zone captain played an aggressive knock and put his team in a strong position on the first day. Amid this, Ishan Kishan continues amazing form, smashes hundred in Duleep Trophy final.
The Jharkhand batter reached his hundred in just 122 balls, hitting 12 fours and two sixes. His unbeaten 144-run partnership with Kumar Kushagra helped East Zone finish Day 1 at 385/4.
The century was a special milestone for Kishan, as it was his 10th First-Class hundred and only his second century in the Duleep Trophy. His previous Duleep Trophy hundred came two years ago when he scored 111 for India C in Anantapur.
