Mohammed Siraj Dismisses Nahid Rana

Mohammed Siraj wrapped up Bangladesh's first innings in the ongoing first India vs Bangladesh Test in style by castling Nahid Rana.

The right-arm pacer started the game well as he dismissed Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for 20 runs. However, his participation in the remainder of the innings looked highly doubtful after he limped off the field due to a knee injury.

Mohammed Siraj sustained the injury on his left knee while fielding near the boundary. He did receive treatment on the field but decided to leave the field in the end. However, he later returned to the field and made his presence felt by taking the last Bangladesh wicket.

He bowled a full delivery outside the off stump and Nahid Rana went for a big slog. However, the Bangladesh player could not make good contact with the ball and ended up inside-edging the ball back onto the stumps.

Rana was the last Bangladesh wicket to fall as the tourists were bowled out for a modest total of 149 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up four wickets while Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each.

Bangladesh started their first innings in a disastrous fashion as their batters failed to put up a good fight. At one stage, the tourists were reeling at 40 for 5. Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das then shared a 51-run stand for the sixth wicket.

After the partnership was broken, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 149 runs. Shakib top-scored for his side and was also the only player to reach the 30-run mark. The former Bangladesh skipper scored 32 runs.

Earlier in the day, India's first innings came to an end on 376 after they started the day on 339/6. The hosts were reeling at 144/6 on day one before a huge 199-run stand between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bailed them out. Ashwin scored 113 while Jadeja scored 86 runs.
