Rishabh Pant spotted with MS Dhoni
Pant has been in Ranchi for some days now, as previously he was spotted with Dhoni along with Shahbaz Nadeem while they were in a gym session. Yesterday night, they were also captured in a black-coloured car, possibly a Thar, when both were out for a possible drive in Ranchi.
Pant has been training under the greatest wicket-keeper batter of all time at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi. Rishabh had always seen Dhoni as an elder brother and has learnt wicket-keeping skills as well, which improved him as a wicket-keeper across formats for the India National Cricket Team.
Rishabh Pant's relation with MS Dhoni
Rishabh had been struggling with his form and thus has turned to one of the most helpful people in Indian cricket. Dhoni has always backed Rishabh despite all the criticism and pressure as his successor; the former skipper has helped him grow as a cricketer from the very first day when he made his IPL debut and then became teammates for the Men in Blue side.
The two share a special brotherly bond, and whenever Pant has been struggling, he has always been spotted taking guidance from Dhoni, whether in the wicket-keeping department or batting, and he is one person whom the Southpaw can share anything. Off the field, they share a family relationship, as Dhoni was spotted at Pant’s sister's wedding.
Rishabh Pant surpassed MS Dhoni
Pant eclipsed MS Dhoni's long-held record for the most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper when he hit his seventh century against England at Headingley. Dhoni set the previous record with six centuries during his career.
He also surpassed Dhoni’s record for most 50-plus scores by a visiting Indian wicketkeeper in England. Pant scored 1,000 Test runs in 27 innings, surpassing Dhoni's 32 innings.
Rishabh Pant was named in the one-off Test against Afghanistan, where he scored 81 runs in the game as the Men in Blue. Despite his good form in Test cricket last year, he failed to replicate the same in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as his side finished at the bottom of the table.
Rishabh, after the disastrous season, stepped down as captain and also left the franchise, returning to the Delhi Capitals (DC) in June 2026. The trade involved a player-plus-cash swap where Kuldeep Yadav moves to LSG, and Pant rejoins DC for a salary of INR 15 crores.
