Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020 and is still one of the most talked about cricketers in the world. With less than six months left until the start of the Indian Premier League 2023, this could be MS Dhoni’s last edition of the IPL and he will be keen to finish on a high. Dhoni was seen batting in the nets at the Jharkhand Cricket Associations Stadium in his hometown Ranchi.
Despite a bad season in 2020, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) proved to everyone that they are a champion team by winning the IPL 2021 title. IPL 2022 is only the second time CSK has missed out on the playoffs. Dhoni announced his retirement from the captaincy before the start of the season but had to return to the captaincy mid-season after Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the competition due to injury.

MS Dhoni appeared in 14 IPL matches, scored 232 runs and remained unbeaten on six occasions. In the tournament, he averaged 33.14 with a strike rate of 123.40 and had one half-century.
MS Dhoni will Lead The CSK In The Next Year’s IPL
With doubts hovering over whether he will feature in the next season, the CSK CEO, Kasi Vishwanathan had told a news channel a few days back, “MS Dhoni will lead the CSK team in the next year of the IPL tournament.”
When asked if he would feature in the next season of the league, the CSK skipper had said, “It’s a simple reason: it will be unfair to not play in Chennai and say thank you. Mumbai is one place, where, as a team and as an individual, I have got a lot of love and affection. But it wouldn’t be nice to the CSK fans.”
The BCCI recently announced that the IPL 2023 will go back to the home-and-away format. “The next season of men’s IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all ten teams playing their home matches at their designated venues,” BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said.
MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in IPL history, having led the Chennai Super Kings to four titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021.
