With the current 2022 season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, veteran Indian opening batter Murali Vijay has returned to professional cricket (TNPL). From 2008 to 2018, the 38-year-old played 61 Tests, 17 ODIs, and 9 T20Is for India.
Vijay no longer plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL), despite the fact that he has not yet declared his retirement from the sport. He has also lost his spot on the Indian squad. He has played on two occasions with the Chennai Super Kings, winning three championships with them.
He participated in the lucrative league for Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in addition to the MS Dhoni-led team and even captained the latter team on several occasions.
Comeback TNPL Season For Murali Vijay
However, all of these events have already passed, and Vijay just made his comeback in the TNPL’s 2022 season, which is currently in progress with the championship game set for this Sunday (July 31). The Ruby Trichy Warriors’ right-handed batsman has done well while playing for his team.
He contributed 8, 34, 61, and 121 runs for the squad throughout the course of the four games but was unable to advance them farther in the tournament. The Warriors were seventh out of eight teams in the league standings.
Vijay, who scored 121 against Nellai Royal Kings in his penultimate game, was recently involved in a brawl with supporters while watching a TNPL match. Despite this, he was not chosen for the remaining two league stage matches. And if the security personnel on duty hadn’t stepped in, things may have gotten nasty.
Brawl Between Mural Vijay And Spectators
The event took place on July 24 at SCF Cricket Ground in Salem during his team’s last league stage match against Madurai Panthers. When everything went wrong, Vijay was working as a replacement fielder close to the boundary line.

The audience can be heard screaming Dinesh Karthik’s name, “DK…DK,” in the internet videos that have gone viral. In response, Vijay politely urged the crowd to calm down while linking his hands. It did not sit well with the batter, though, as the crowd’s shouting became louder.
In a different video, Vijay can be seen fighting physically with a spectator as the throng charged at him. However, the ground security intervened and the crowd dispersed.

By using Karthik’s name because the two had a shared past, the crowd was targeting Vijay. Nikita Vanjara, Karthik’s first wife, is said to have had an affair with Vijay; the two later wed when she split from the wicketkeeper-batter. Karthik later married squash player Dipika Pallikal from India in 2015, and the couple welcomed twins into the world in 2017.
