The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team player Pathum Nissanka grabbed an absolutely stupendous catch to end the terrific innings of the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma in the second ODI of the three-match series.

The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is hosting the second match of the series between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

The Men In Blue headed into the clash after showcasing a poor batting performance in the series opener that resulted in the game being tied. The match result was a huge setback for the visitors and it stunned many fans as India were clear favourites to win the opening match and set to momentum, considering the strong line-up they had.

Indian bowlers did well to restrict the opposition to 230/8 and Rohit Sharma's aggressive batting show in the beginning of the innings made things look quite easy for the visitors. At 75/0, India were cruising for the win but after a great start, they just batted well in patches and were not able to build good partnerships.

The biggest thing that went wrong for India was that they lost two wickets in back-to-back overs twice, which completely derailed the momentum. Despite Shivam Dube playing a good knock in the end, India got bowled out for 230 as Dube, along with Arshdeep Singh, got out on back-to-back deliveries. The Indian pacer Arshdeep was at the receiving end of heavy criticism for attempting to hit a boundary with 1 run needed and more than 2 overs remaining.

Coming back to the second ODI between Rohit Sharma-led side and Charith Asalanka-led side, the home team won the toss and chose to bat first. After a great contribution from almost every batsman, Sri Lanka managed to score 240/9.

The chase was expected to be tough considering the conditions in the fray, but Rohit Sharma completely decimated the Sri Lankan bowling unit with his aggressive game and made batting look very easy.

The Indian captain played effortless shots and was going all guns blazing. The innings of Rohit Sharma was finally brought to an end in the 14th over of the innings.

On the third ball of the over, Jeffrey Vandersay bowled an 82kph tossed-up delivery to Rohit Sharma around the leg-stump. The Indian skipper inversed his stance and tried to smash the ball over point.

However, he failed to make a good connection and only managed to top-edge the ball. As the ball went up in the air, two fielders from cover-point and backward point came running in for the catch. However, Pathum Nissanka was the first one to reach near the ball and he put in a dive to complete a sensational catch. Rohit Sharma finished his innings with 64 runs off 44 balls, with 5 fours and 4 sixes.
