Rahul Dravid and Jasprit Bumrah were seen consoling a distraught Virat Kohli after he got out cheaply in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal between India and England.

The batting superstar was out for just 9 runs in the crucial game as he registered his fifth single-digit score in 7 innings in the ongoing tournament. Before the ongoing World Cup, Virat Kohli had a brilliant campaign in the IPL. He finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, scoring 741 runs with the help of one century and five half-centuries while opening the innings.

The Indian team management also decided to promote him as an opener but the former India skipper has not really managed to justify the call so far. He began his campaign in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup with a 1-run knock before being out for just 4 against Pakistan. In the third game, Virat Kohli could not even open his account against the USA.

He finally managed to reach double-digits in the first Super 8 game against Afghanistan, scoring 24 before scoring 37 against Bangladesh. However, he flopped in the very next outing and was out for a duck against Australia.

Virat Kohli consoled by teammates and coach:

Expectations were really high from Virat Kohli in the semifinals. The batting superstar loves to deliver in big games and many expected him to roar back to form in the crucial game. However, he failed to turn things around in the semifinal as well and was clean-bowled by Reece Topley in the third over.

He lost his wicket while trying to play a big shot. The India opener departed after scoring 9 runs off as many balls. Soon after his dismissal, the cameras turned towards the Indian dugout where a distraught Virat Kohli was being consoled by head coach Rahul Dravid and his teammates. Kohli looked absolutely glum after his latest failure as his teammates tried to cheer him up.

Watch:

Coming to the game, India were on 65 for 2 after 8 overs before rain stopped play. After Kohli's departure, Sam Curran dismissed Rishabh Pant to give England the second breakthrough. Captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were unbeaten and India will be hoping that the star batters guide them to a big total after the game resumes.
