The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Rahul Tripathi grabbed an absolute blinder to dismiss the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opening batsman Aiden Markram on Monday, April 14.

Aiden Markram falls in first over as Rahul Tripathi takes stunner

The Proteas star Aiden Markram has looked in decent touch in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League while opening the innings along with Mitchell Marsh.

He has already slammed two half-centuries and played a key role in Lucknow Super Giants' good wins. However, the right-handed batsman was unable to provide his team with a good start against CSK.

He was cleaned up by the left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed on the sixth ball of the first over. Khaleel Ahmed bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to Aiden Markram, who looked it whip it across the line.

However, he only managed to get a leading edge, and the ball flew towards cover-point. CSK fielder Rahul Tripathi sprinted back, kept his eyes on the ball, and managed to grab an absolutely amazing catch while diving. It was the fourth wicket for Khaleel Ahmed in the first over in IPL 2025 - the most by any bowler.

Sourav Ganguly backs CSK amid horror show in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings have failed badly in the Indian Premier League 2025. They started their tournament with a win over the Mumbai Indians but then went on a 5-match losing streak.

CSK faced a defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and the Kolkata Knight Riders. They also lost their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to an injury and MS Dhoni was forced to return as captain.

Despite their poor form, the legendary India skipper Sourav Ganguly has backed CSK, saying that one can never write off MS Dhoni and his team. He also named his favorites for the marquee T20 league.

“It is difficult to say who will win because anyone can win in T20, but there are good teams. Sunrisers, Delhi Capitals, we can never write off MS Dhoni, no matter how old he is. Chennai Super Kings, Bombay, it is a good team. Gujarat always surprises, in the first two years, they won with a weak team, Shubman Gill is also in good form but Hardik Pandya used to make a lot of difference for them, he is not there, so I find these four teams very strong,” Ganguly said on YouTube channel YourFoodLab.

"KKR look slightly weak since last year because Phil Salt, Shreyas Iyer, and Mitchell Starc are not there, all three were important players in their team, they are not there,” the former cricketer added.
