Indian cricketer Rajat Patidar showcased his brilliant fielding efforts during the ongoing first-class match between India A and India C in the Duleep Trophy 2024. Patidar, who is playing for India C, took a stunning catch to dismiss inform batter Shams Mulani on the opening day of the match.

India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first after winning the toss at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. India C bowlers made the ball talk during the first session on the opening day. Anshul Kamboj drew first blood by dismissing Pratham Singh, who scored six runs off 25 balls.

The Mayank Agarwal-led side lost wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 36-5. Mayank Agarwal, who scored 6 runs off 21 balls, was the second man to be dismissed in the India A innings. Riyan Parag and Tilak Varma managed to score two runs and five runs, respectively, in the first innings.

Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed Kumar Kushagra for a duck as half of India A's batters departed with just 36 runs on the board. Shashwat Rawat and Shams Mulani stabilized the innings with an impressive partnership for the sixth wicket. The batting duo helped the India A team cross the 100-run mark.

Gaurav Yadav provided a breakthrough for the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team by dismissing Mulani, who scored 44 runs off 76 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six. Rajat Patidar, standing at the gully, dived to his left to take a stunning catch off Shams Mulani, who had been batting well.

The left-handed batter attempted to play a full, wide delivery but edged it towards Patidar. This catch ended an 87-run partnership between Mulani and Shashwat Rawat for the sixth wicket.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) domestic shared the video of Rajat Patidar taking a flying catch on X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, "Partnership Breaker! 🙌 Gaurav Yadav finally provides the breakthrough as he breaks the 87-run stand by dismissing Shams Mulani (44). Excellent catch from Rajat Patidar 👌"

At the time of writing, India A scored 170 for the loss of 7 wickets in 59 overs. Tanush Kotian was the seventh man to be dismissed in the India A innings. Anshul Kamboj dismissed Kotian for 10 runs, claiming his third wicket of the innings. Shashwat Rawat is the lone performer for India A with an unbeaten 84 runs.

Rajat Patidar made his Test debut for India during the five-match Test series against England earlier this year. The right-handed batter struggled to make an impact during his maiden series. He scored only 63 runs across six innings, which cost him his place in the squad for the Test series against Bangladesh.
