India offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin ordered his teammate Sarfaraz Khan to stay out of a conversation about a DRS decision during the second Test between India and New Zealand at Pune. The incident happened during the 46th over of New Zealand's first innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling to Daryl Mitchell and beat his outside edge off the fourth ball of the over. Mitchell, who was on the front foot, was hit on the front pad which led to a huge appeal from the bowler and the fielders.

The umpire gave it not out as Ashwin came forward to discuss with Rishabh Pant. During this moment, Sarfaraz also suggested to speak but the bowler asked him to stay out of conversation.

After a few discussions with the bowler and the wicketkeeper, skipper Rohit Sharma decided going against the review. Later, it was found out that the impact was umpire's call, and hence, the decision would have remained not out.

Sarfaraz Khan convinces Rohit Sharma to take a successful review

Earlier in the day, Sarfaraz Khan had affected a brilliant dismissal through his presence of mind off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin. The offspinner bowled a ball down the leg side which Will Young tried to tickle away but missed it.

The ball went to the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and Indian fielders let out a vociferous appeal. The umpire turned the appeal down and Rohit Sharma too wasn't keen on taking the DRS.

However, Sarfaraz knew that there was a faint edge and convinced Rohit to take the review. The review turned out to be a successful one as the decision was overturned, thus, giving Ashwin his second wicket of the day.

Ravichandran Ashwin later dismissed New Zealand's other opener Devon Conway as well. Conway was caught by the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant behind the stumps for a well-made 76 off 141 balls. Ravichandran Ashwin picked the first three wickets of New Zealand on the day.

New Zealand in driver's seat

New Zealand are in a good position in the match despite losing three wickets. The visitors are making good use of the first day pitch that looks good for batting and will assist the spinners as the game goes on.

The hero of the last Test match Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell are building on a good partnership and taking New Zealand to a big first innings total. Ravindra looked solid and assured with his strokeplay as he was in the last match as well.

Earlier, New Zealand skipper Tom Latham won the toss and elected to bat first. New Zealand made just one change from the last match, bringing in an extra spin bowling option of Mitchell Santner for Matt Henry.

Meanwhile, India made three changes to their Playing XI. The home team brought in Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Akash Deep for KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj. New Zealand lead the series 1-0 after winning the first Test at Bengaluru.
