Ravichandran Ashwin and James Anderson were involved in a heated altercation on day two of the ongoing second Test between India and England in Visakhapatnam. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin started the proceedings with the bat for Team India on the second day.
And the incident took place in the very second over of the day. The veteran spinner was involved in an animated chat with umpire Marais Erasmus at the end of day one as well. He was seen expressing his disappointment over something and things did not change much on day two as well.
As James Anderson came charging in to bowl to Jaiswal, he was distracted by Ravichandran Ashwin’s hand gesture. Standing at the non-striker’s end, the India spin spearhead raised his arm towards the stumps, just before Anderson was to deliver the ball. The England veteran was forced to stop and he was seen venting his frustration over the same.

Yashasvi Jaiswal propels India:
Earlier on day one, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stunning unbeaten century propelled India to a good total. While the opener kept losing partners at regular intervals, he stood firm at his end. India were on 336 for 6 at stumps on day one with Jaiswal unbeaten on 179. He struck 17 fours and 5 sixes during his brilliant knock.
Jaiswal also reached his first Test century on home soil in style by hitting Tom Hartley for a six. Speaking at the end of the day’s play, the India opener said:
“I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell.
“Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. I wanted to convert the loose balls, and play till the end,” he added.
Apart from him, only Shubman Gill (34) and debutant Rajat Patidar (32) managed to cross the 30-run mark. For England, spinners Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed claimed two wickets each while James Anderson and Tom Hartley accounted for one scalp apiece. England are currently leading the five-match after winning the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad.
