Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got a taste of his own medicine during the game between Nellai Royal Kings and Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024. The two squared off with each other in the 28th match on Sunday (28th July).

Ravichandran Ashwin was warned for leaving the crease early. The Dindigul Dragons skipper, during the 15th over of the innings, tried to get out of the crease early at the non-striker's end, but he couldn't as Nellai Royal bowler Mohan Prasath flopped his plans at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul.

Ravichandran Ashwin, ahead of the second ball of the over, left the crease early, but bowler Mohan Prasath was quick to notice it. He stopped in the middle of his bowling action and warned the veteran Indian off-spinner to stay in his crease, giving him a taste of his own medicine.

Here's the video:

For unversed, Ravichandran Ashwin has been in the headlines for his mankading mode of dismissal. He did the same during the IPL 2019 when he was playing for Punjab Kings. The senior off-spinner ran out RR’s Jos Buttler by removing the bails at the non-striker’s end before bowling the delivery.

Even after that Ravichandran Ashwin hasn't left a stone unturned in warning the batters who have tried to leave the crease early. The off-spinner has always been vocal about this kind of dismissal, and despite a lot of debates over the spirit of cricket, he has always backed his comments.

In the game against Nellai Royal Kings, Ravichandran Ashwin didn't have a great outing with the bat. The off-spinner scored 15 runs off 13 balls. He bagged an unfortunate dismissal as he got run out and with his wicket, Dindigul Dragons lost their 9th wicket.

Dindigul Dragons didn't have a great outing with the bat as they got all out for just 136 runs. Shivam Singh was the top run scorer for the team as he scored 70 runs while the rest of the batters failed to go past the 15-run mark with the bat.

Having failed to impress with the bat, Ravichandran Ashwin made sure that he came up with a magical effort with the ball. The off-spinner came up with a sensational spell of spin bowling and tried to keep his team in the hunt in the low defense.

Ravichandran Ashwin, in the first three overs that he bowled, gave away just 12 runs. If this was not enough, he also picked two crucial wickets with the ball. The off-spinner removed Nidhish Rajagopal for a duck and then trapped Rithik Easwaran in lbw for just 2 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin's sensational bowling in the first three overs reduced the opposition to 76/4. He would be keen to take his team to the win and get important two points under their belt.
