An interesting incident took place during Day 3 (Saturday, August 2) of the fifth and final Test between India and England at the Oval in London. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was distracted by a fan in a bright red T-shirt behind the sight screen, and the spectator changed into a grey shirt to resolve the issue.

Ravindra Jadeja continued his impressive batting form in his final innings. The left-handed batter scored 53 runs off 77 deliveries, including five fours. He also surpassed the 500-run mark for the five-match series, finishing with 516 runs in 10 innings, including one century and five half-centuries.

Apart from his batting performances, the top-ranked Test all-rounder has also contributed with the ball. Ravindra Jadeja has picked up seven wickets so far.

Watch: Ravindra Jadeja Gives Thumbs-Up as Fan Changes T-Shirt to Avoid Distraction

The incident took place during the final session of Day 3 in the fifth Test. Ravindra Jadeja was distracted while batting due to a spectator wearing a red shirt seated close to the sight-screen. Jadeja raised his concern with umpire Kumar Dharmasena.

The spectator was asked to shift seats but chose instead to change his shirt. A ground staff member handed him a grey Surrey shirt. Jadeja acknowledged the gesture with a thumbs-up and soon after hit Jamie Overton for a boundary.

The moment, which briefly interrupted play, ended on a lighthearted note, and the video quickly went viral across social media platforms.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Sony Sports Network wrote: “Red shirt, but total green flag.”

India Eye Win After Strong Day 3 in Fifth Test

India are in a strong position after Day 3 of the fifth Test. They set a target of 374 runs for England. The day started well for the visitors, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and nightwatchman Akash Deep added 107 runs together. Deep scored 66 runs from 94 balls, while Jaiswal smashed 118 runs off 164 deliveries.

Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with another useful half-century, but Washington Sundar gave the innings a big boost with 53 runs from just 46 balls, including four sixes and four fours.

Josh Tongue was the pick of the bowlers for England with five wickets. Gus Atkinson took three, and Jamie Overton picked up two. Notably, Chris Woakes was ruled out of the match after suffering an injury during India’s first innings.

England Reach 50/1 at Stumps, Need 324 More for Victory in Fifth Test

England ended Day 3 on 50 for 1. They still need 324 more runs to win with nine wickets remaining. Openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley added a 50-run stand before Crawley was dismissed for 14 by Mohammed Siraj on the final ball of the day.

Notably, teams have struggled to chase targets over 250 at this venue, with no successful run-chase since 2000. However, England have recent experience chasing big totals against India, including their record 378-run chase at Edgbaston in 2022 and a 371-run effort earlier in this series at Headingley.

India are under pressure to win this Test to avoid a third straight series defeat, following losses to Australia (away) and New Zealand (home). Notably, this is the first Test series under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
