In what comes as good news for Indian fans, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has made his much-awaited return to the field for the first time since he suffered a chastening injury during the recent Australian tour.

The Saurashtra all-rounder took to his Twitter account on Tuesday to share a video where he can be seen running on the field for the first time since he underwent surgery.

“Back on the field #firstday #postsurgery” wrote Ravindra Jadeja.

For the uninitiated, Ravindra Jadeja has been out of action since the New Year Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Jadeja had suffered a vicious blow on his left thumb while batting courtesy of a brutal Mitchell Starc bumper during India’s first innings of the third Test.

Jadeja was immediately taken to the hospital for scans where it was revealed that he would be requiring immediate surgery, thus ruling him out of the rest of the series.

Jadeja, however, was padded up during India’s second innings of the Sydney Test but luckily, he wasn’t required as Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari played out more than 50 overs to clinch a stunning draw for the tourists.

The all-rounder underwent surgery following the Sydney Test and even though it was successful, it was clear that he wouldn’t be returning to the field in the immediate future.

Jadeja checked-in into the National Cricket Academy upon his return to India and was subsequently ruled out for the first two Tests against England.

Fans were hopeful that the charismatic all-rounder will return for the last two Tests and the white-ball leg but even those hopes were laid to rest when Team India’s squad for the last two Tests and the five-match T20I series was announced.

But now that Ravindra Jadeja has made a return to the field, one can only hope that he finds a place in the ODI squad for the three-match series against Eoin Morgan’s England.
