Ravindra Jadeja was named the Player of the Match in the First Test
Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder, continued his stellar form from the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which was played between India and England back in the July-August window. Jadeja, who has scored 550+ runs in the series and picked 7 wickets as well, carried his form to India.
In the first Test against the West Indies at Ahmedabad, Jadeja, though, could not find himself among wickets in the first innings but went on to score a splendid century with the bat. His innings of 104* helped India extend a massive lead over the visitors.
After leading by 286 runs, Jadeja next went on to dominate with the ball. Introduced early with the new ball, Jadeja picked 4 wickets in the game. He was hence picked as the Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance, which helped India wrap up the Test just within three days of the schedule.
Ravindra Jadeja snubbed from India's ODI squad for Australia tour
India has announced their squad for the Australia ODIs, which are scheduled to be played from the 19th of October. The first ODI will be played at Perth, which would mark the return of Indian veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Jadeja, despite being the player of the match in the recently concluded red-ball game, was snubbed from the 50-over format. Instead, the likes of Washington Sundar have been included in the Indian side as his like-for-like replacement.
Jadeja's bowling prowess cannot be considered for this snub, as he has also dominated equally with the bat. However, the only viable reason for this controversial decision might be the Australian conditions, which are unfavourable for spinners.
