Rinku Singh has not looked back since enjoying a breakthrough season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. After struggling with injuries and a lack of chances in his initial years with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the southpaw finally established himself as one of the key players of the team last year.
He was one of the best performers in the competition and enhanced his reputation as one of the best finishers in the country. In 14 games, he smashed 474 runs at an average of almost 60 and a strike-rate of 150. The left-handed batsman also scored 4 half-centuries and famously hit Yash Dayal for five sixes in a row to clinch a miraculous win for his side.
It paved the way for his maiden India call-up and Rinku Singh has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He has taken international cricket by storm and has already made his debut for Team India in both the white-ball formats. His place in the T20I team looks pretty much cemented and the youngster is looking destined to play in this year’s T20 World Cup.
Rinku Singh’s father delivers the cylinder:
Rinku Singh has played 2 ODIs and 15 T20Is so far. In T20Is, he has scored 356 runs at a stunning average of 89 and a strike-rate of over 176. And while the Uttar Pradesh star has managed to make it big in the game, his father, Khanchandra Singh, has decided against giving up his job of delivering LPG cylinders.
A video that has gone viral on social media shows Khanchandra Singh delivering cylinders from house to house even though his son has become a key player of Team India and has a lucrative IPL contract. For those who don’t know, Rinku’s family struggled financially before he managed to make it big in the game.

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh is currently busy plying his trade for India A against England Lions. In the second unofficial Test, he was out for a duck in the first innings and did not get the chance to bat again as India A registered an innings win.
