Rinku Singh made a mark with the bat and also on the field in the series against Zimbabwe. India won the series 4-1 with Rinku Singh taking as many as six catches in the tournament. He ended the series with 60 runs from five matches with a best of 48 not out in the second T20I.
Rinku has been groomed as the finisher of this young Indian TR20I side and he has not disappointed. The Indian batter has now scored 85 runs in the final five overs in T20Is for India. He has maintained a strike rate of 300 during this phase and has been dismissed just once. He was also a part of the reserves of India's T20 World Cup-winning squad.
Rinku threw himself around the park in all five games and held the catches safely. In the final T20I in Harare on Sunday, he survived an injury scare on his right knee but was back on the park quickly after attention from the physio.
After the end of the game, T Dilip, the Indian fielding coach emphasised the importance of fielding as he nominated Rinku Singh as the best fielder of the series award. In the process, he carried on the tradition of the best fielder award medal in this young Indian team as well. There are reports that T Dilip is likely to be retained as the fielding coach under Gautam Gambhir.
"Boys, fielding has always been of paramount importance in Indian cricket and its an aspect the game where we have set high standards over the years. We should strive to continue to aim for excellence in this area. As we all know we all follow a tradition which is the fielding medal. The medal is given to a player that makes a significant impact in the game with their fielding. Today to carry forward this tradition Mr Subhadeep Ghosh will be presenting the fielding medal good luck and all the best" said Dilip.
Subhadeep Ghosh the fielding coach of this young Indian side then handed over the medal to VVS Laxman who presented the medal to Rinku Singh amid his teammates cheering for him. They asked him to give a speech on winning this award. This is when Rinku said that he loves fielding more than battling and is continuing to enjoy his game.

"God's plan, he started his speech by saying. I enjoyed a lot playing with this young side. This was the fourth or the fifth series that I played and I enjoyed playing in this series. Tobe honest I enjoy my fielding more than my batting. I enjoy my fielding a lot, I like running a lot as well. Unless I sprint my body doesn't open up" said Rinku.
It was a comprehensive performance from this young Indian side. After losing the first game, they bounced back strongly under Shubman Gill's captaincy.
