India captain Rohit Sharma looked in a joyous mood during the game against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Super 8 fixture between the teams took place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday (20th) July.
India captain Rohit Sharma had a great outing as skipper of the team in the game against Afghanistan. He displayed a magnificent performance as skipper of the team and made sure that his team got off to a flier in the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
Rohit Sharma made brilliant bowling changes along with the field placements. The bowlers too repaid the faith of the captain and made sure that they came up with a magical effort with the ball to wrap up the game and win the game by a massive margin to make their case strong for the next stage.
Rohit Sharma was also involved in a hilarious moment with Rishabh Pant after the keeper-batter took the catch of Gulbadin Naib. It was during the 11th over of the innings when Kuldeep Yadav bowled a googly to which the Afghanistan batter tried to launch it.
Gulbadin Naib didn't get the proper connection as the ball got high in the air. Rishabh Pant, who was behind the stumps, called for the catch and skipper Rohit Sharma, who was coming to take the catch stopped and the keeper-batter completed an easy catch to dismiss the batter.

Afghanistan lost early wickets in the chase and Gulbadin Naib with his 17-run knock kept the team in the hunt. But he couldn’t carry on Indian bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular intervals and bundled out the Rashid Khan-led side for 134 runs to win the game by 47 runs.
Earlier with the bat, Surykumar Yadav had a sensational outing with the bat and made sure that India posted a big total on the board. The batter ended with an innings of 53 runs off 28 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 190 and also hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. His knock ensured that India posted a total of 180-run mark at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

After India's win over Afghanistan, Irfan Pathan came up with a praising message for the Rohit Sharma-led side. The former India all-rounder lauded Jasprit Bumrah for his heroics and also hailed Suryakumar Yadav's batting against Rashid Khan. Taking to his Twitter account, he explained:
