India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant might not have played the big innings for his team in the second Test against Australia, but he made sure that he entertained everyone. The pink-ball Test between the teams, which took place at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide concluded on Sunday (8th December).

Rishabh Pant was the live wire for the Indian team in the second Test. What caught the attention of many was his bravery and courage when he walked out to bat in the second innings, especially with Australia bowlers having their tail up under lights.

As the India National Cricket Team were warming up, Pant produced a joyous moment. He came up with the funny prank on Adam Gilchrist, who was busy with media duties. The Indian player walked towards him from behind and caught the legendary cricketer by surprise.

Pant blindfolded Adam Gilchrist and then was seen tickling him in the rib. The video of the incident went viral on the internet, with many applauding the India batter for his joyous nature.

As a kid, I used to watch him a lot - Rishabh Pant on Adam Gilchrist

Recently Rishabh Pant spoke about his admiration for Adam Gilchrist. He revealed that as a kid, he watched Australia great, and he followed him a lot. Speaking on Club Prairie Fire Podcast, he explained:

"Everyone knows. See. I think he has been an inspiration for me. As a kid, I used to watch him a lot, and I am someone who does not like watching cricket a lot. He was someone I used to look up to for the way he used to take on the field, batting, and wicketkeeping. I used to love everything about him. When I met for the first time in Australia, it was amazing."

Adam Gilchrist is arguably regarded as one of the best keeper-batters to have played the game of cricket. He represented Australia in 96 Tests, amassing 5570 runs at an average of 47.60 with 17 centuries. In 287 ODIs, he made 9619 runs at an average of 35.89 with 16 centuries.

Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, is walking in the footsteps of Adam Gilchrist. The India keeper-batter is one of the most exciting players and with the way he is playing, he is expected to play a crucial role for the team in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
