India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant made a huge blunder behind the stumps in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The third and final ODI of the series between the teams is taking place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Rishabh Pant didn't have the kind of outing he would've wanted behind the stumps. He missed the simple stumping, and it resulted in Sri Lanka National Cricket Team batter Maheesh Theekshana coming out to bat after going back into the hut.

During the last ball of the 49th over, Mahesh Theekshana ran down the wicket and attempted the wild swing across the line. Watching the batter coming out of the crease early, Kuldeep Yadav shortened his length. The batter missed the ball by the miles and it was an easy stumping for Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.

Rishabh Pant made a mess of it as he took his own time to remove the bails. Watching bails being removed, Maheesh Theekshana walked back to the dugout, but the replays showed that the time taken by Pant allowed Theekshana to get back in the crease and save his wicket.

It was a pretty poor effort from Rishabh Pant, as had he taken the bails off quickly, then Theekshana would've been out. The Sri Lankan player then had to come out of the dressing room again to bat again. Notably, the third umpire also made a funny blunder as at first he displayed an 'out' decision on the big screen before changing it to 'not-out'. Also, India captain Rohit Sharma had a dejected look on his face and he furiously gave a death stare to the keeper.

The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team ended with an innings of 248 runs, with Avishka Fernando (96) being the top run-getter for the team. Riyan Parag was the pick of the bowlers with his three-wicket haul while Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav bagged one scalp each.

In the chase, India had a horrible outing with the bat. Apart from Rohit Sharma, no other batter looked settled at the crease. The skipper scored 35 runs, and after he went out, Indian wickets fell like a pack of cards as Sri Lanka spinners were all over the batters. Even Rishabh Pant (6), who played in place of KL Rahul couldn't get going.

Washington Sundar (30) was the second-highest score for India as he hit some blows in the end but couldn't take his team home. His efforts went in vain as India got all out for 138 runs and went on to lose the game by the massive margin of 110 runs and inside 27 overs.

Sri Lanka registered their first-ever series win over India since 1997. They won the series by the margin of 2-0.
