For Rohit Sharma, India's World Cup win is still like a dream and it is still not over. He became the first Indian captain to break the trophy jynx for India since 2013.

It was India's first ICC title since 2013 and the first T20 World Cup in 17 years since their inaugural T20 World Cup win in 2007. Since then India failed to cross the final hurdle. However, they made it to the knockouts of almost every ICC event.

Under MS Dhoni India lost the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup win. Under Virat Kohli India first lost the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan and then the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Then under Rohit Sharma, India lost the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England, and the WTC and ODI World Cup final against Australia.

The Indian skipper was adamant about winning the T20 World Cup and when he eventually won it, he fell short of expressing his emotions. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20I cricket after Idnia's win in the Caribbean.

On Thursday, after being stuck for four days since the T20 World Cup win in Barbados due to  Hurricane Beryl, the Indian World Cup contingent finally landed in New Delhi on Thursday morning after almost 16 hours of non-stop flight from Barbados to New Delhi. The World Cup-winning team first met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then left for Mumbai to participate in a roadshow in Mumbai.

However, after reaching Mumbai, the Indian players reached late at Marine Drive due to the big crowd already gathered there to welcome the team. They finally reached Marine Drive around 7 pm and are on their way currently to the Wankhede stadium where the team will be felicitated by the BCCI.

Meanwhile, visuals of Rohit Sharma adoring the T20 World Cup title have gone viral on social media. In a viral video clip, Rohit can be seen wiping the trophy, cleaning it, and adoring it in the process. Every Indian player including Rohit Sharma posed for pictures with the World Cup trophy and expressed how they felt after winning the title.

Rohit Sharma in the post-match press conference after winning the final, spoke about how desperately he wanted to win this title after losing two ICC finals in 12 months before playing the T20 World Cup final.

"I wanted this badly. It's very hard to put it in words because that moment... I don't want to say what I was thinking and what was going [on] in my mind, but it was a very emotional moment personally for me. I wish I could capture that moment myself but not really, you can't do that but I will always remember that. Yeah, those are the moments you wait for and then you don't plan these things, it just happens because you're so desperate for certain things in life and I was very desperate for this in my life. So happy that we eventually crossed the line this time"  Rohit said.

The T20 World Cup win also marked an end to Rahul Dravid's tenure as India's head coach. He saw India lose the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final WTC 2023 final, and the ODI World Cup 2023 final, and finally ended with a T20 World Cup title to his credit.
