Some interesting scenes were witnessed after the conclusion of the opening day of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. Team India's lower-order batter Akash Deep almost hit skipper Rohit Sharma on the foot, and the video has gone viral on social media.
The two-match series between India and Bangladesh is part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. Team India currently leads the World Test Championship table. Bangladesh, on the other hand, moved to fourth place after winning the Test series against Pakistan.
Team India Lost Three Wickets For Just 34 Runs
Team India struggled early on the first day of the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday, September 19. The hosts lost their first three wickets for just 34 runs within 10 overs. Rohit Sharma was the first batter to be dismissed as Hasan Mahmud provided an early breakthrough.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (56) and Rishabh Pant (39) added a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Jaiswal was dismissed after a 48-run partnership with KL Rahul. The home team collapsed to 144-6 from 96-3 during the opening day. However, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin rescued the team.
Ravichandran Ashwin smashed his sixth Test century in the final session of the opening day. The Men in Blue scored 339 runs for the loss of six wickets at the stumps on Day 1. Ravindra Jadeja also reached the half-century mark. Hasan Mahmud picked up four wickets for 58 runs at the stumps.

After the conclusion of the first day's play in Chennai, Akash Deep was seen practicing batting on the field. Rohit Sharma watched Akash's batting practice before starting to walk off the stadium. However, the right-handed batter played a shot towards Rohit, who jumped to avoid injury to his legs.

The Rohit Sharma-led side lost four wickets inside the first session on Day 2. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed without adding runs to his overnight score. Jadeja scored 86 runs off 124 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes. Akash Deep added 17 crucial runs, while Ashwin scored 113 runs off 133 balls.
Indian pacers showcased dominance against Bangladesh batters before the lunch break on Day 2. Jasprit Bumrah provided a breakthrough by dismissing Shadman Islam in the first over. Akash Deep dismissed Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque in consecutive balls on the last over before the break.
After the conclusion of the first session on the second day, the visiting team was 26 for three after 9 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto (15 off 22) and Mushfiqur Rahim (4 off 4) were the two unbeaten batters in the middle. They trail by 350 runs behind India in the first innings of the ongoing match.
