Team India skipper Rohit Sharma got emotional in the dressing room as the Men in Blue advanced to the final match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma was seen wiping away tears after India's victory over England in the second semi-final, and the video has gone viral on social media.

The Rohit Sharma-led team outplayed the Jos Buttler-led side in the semifinal match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27. The Indian team registered a comfortable 68-run victory in the knockout match. India became the second team after South Africa to reach the summit clash of the World Cup.

In the past year, the 37-year-old opener has led India to the finals of the World Test Championship in June 2023, the ODI World Cup, and now the T20 World Cup. This time, India has the opportunity to end a decade-long ICC trophy drought. India and South Africa are the two unbeaten teams in the ICC event.

Watch - Rohit Sharma in Tears After India's Win Over England

Rohit Sharma was almost in tears after India's victory over England in the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final, considering England had knocked out India in the 2022 World Cup semi-final. Rohit sat outside the Indian dressing room while players like Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Arshdeep Singh walked past him.

"You see the relief there on Rohit Sharma's face. Sitting on that chair. What must he be thinking? I tell you… he is looking at Bridgetown already. What lies ahead on Saturday… the final?" former India head coach Ravi Shastri said on commentary.

Rohit Sharma played a crucial role with the bat on a challenging batting surface. The Indian skipper scored 57 runs off 39 balls with the help of nine boundaries and two sixes. Middle-order batters Suryakumar Yadav (47) and Hardik Pandya (23) helped the team reach a competitive total of 171 runs in 20 overs.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel provided an early breakthrough for his team by dismissing Jos Buttler (23) in his first over. England then lost wickets at regular intervals and was bundled out for 103 runs. Axar Patel finished with three wickets for 23 runs in his four overs and earned the "Player of the Match" award.

I Had To Bowl In The Powerplay - Axar Patel

Speaking after the match, Axar Patel stated that he focused on slower deliveries due to the slow pitch. Patel praised the Indian batters for helping the team reach a competitive total in the match.

"I have bowled in the powerplay in the past, so I had to bowl in the powerplay, that was the plan. The wicket was stopping and keeping low, so tried to bowl in the right areas. The wicket was slow, so I tried to bowl slower in this match, it worked for me. Wouldn't have worked had I bowled quicker, would have been easier for their batters. Our batters told us that the wicket wasn't easy, so 160 was a good total according to us," Axar Patel said.
