The Mumbai Indians (MI) owner, Nita Ambani, was caught having an intense chat with the former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma after the conclusion of the MI vs KKR clash.

The Indian Premier League 2025 match between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders was hosted by the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, March 31.

Rohit Sharma flops but Mumbai Indians win easily

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. The 23-year-old pacer Ashwani Kumar shined on his debut and bagged a 4-wicket haul to help MI bundle out KKR for 116 runs.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians finished off the match in 12.5 overs and won by 8 wickets with 43 balls remaining. Ryan Rickelton was the hero in the run-chase as he slammed 62 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes while Suryakumar Yadav played an explosive innings of 27 runs off 9 balls, with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

The batter who was the biggest disappointment for Mumbai Indians was Rohit Sharma. He scored just 13 runs off 12 balls, before being dismissed by Andre Russell in the 6th over.

It was a soft dismissal for the Hitman, and with this, his poor form continued in the league as in the tournament opener against the Chennai Super Kings, he bagged a 4-ball duck before scoring 4-ball 8 in the next match against Gujarat Titans.

Overall, in his last 10 IPL innings, Rohit has scored just 141 runs, which is extremely poor considering the quality of batter he is. Notably, Rohit Sharma holds the unwanted record of most dismissals inside the first six overs in the IPL since 2022 as he has been dismissed 29 times which is way more than Wriddhiman Saha, who is at No.2 spot with 24 dismissals.

The batting flop show seems to have not gone down well with the Mumbai Indians owner, Nita Ambani, as she was seen having a serious chat with the senior batter after the match. It is unclear about what exactly the duo had discussion, but looking at the nature of the chat, one can assume it might have been about Rohit's poor form.

IPL is a new challenge and learning new things about this tournament - Rohit Sharma's opening partner

Speaking ahead of the match, Rohit Sharma's opening partner, Ryan Rickelton, who was also under pressure heading into the KKR encounter, said that the IPL is a new challenge for him, and he is still learning new things. He elaborated:

"Yeah, nice to take those steps forward in my personal game. The last 12-18 months have been really promising for me. But the IPL is a new challenge and learning new things about this tournament as well as my game and hopefully, I kick on."

"It's my first time in India. I missed all of South Africa's tour in the past. Just the culture and how much they love the game. The conditions here are opening my eyes along the way. Hopefully, I can adapt my game accordingly and obviously try to be successful here.
