Watch: Rohit Sharma targeted as RCB take brutal dig at Mumbai Indians' captaincy saga

The IPL 2025 is just about to begin with RCB taking on KKR in the first game and the teams are in the final stage of their preparations. Not only on the field, the franchises are not leaving any stone unturned in taking a dig at their opponent through social media as well.
RCB did exactly the same thing and took a dig at their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians through a video on social media. In the video, Mr. Nags, who is the host of most RCB events, was seen asking the new captain Rajat Patidar about the approval from the previous captains Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.
Mr. Nags asked Patidar if the other teams should have also followed the same strategy for announcing their captains. However, Patidar claimed that he doesn't follow such things and denied accepting it.
In the end, Mr. Nags claimed Patidar to be saying "Mai nahi samjha (I didn't understand)." He emphasized on the word "MAI" and took a brutal dig at Mumbai Indians, who are also shortly pronounced as "MI".

Mumbai Indians' captaincy transition woes
The dig was aimed at Mumbai Indians as they went through an unpopular captaincy transition just a year ago. Allrounder Hardik Pandya replaced the iconic captain Rohit Sharma as the next MI captain, a decision which didn't go down well with the fans.
Hardik was constantly booed by the home fans and in every stadium he traveled during the tournament. The fans wanted Rohit back as their captain but the franchise insisted that it was a transitional period for the team.
Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians to a record five IPL titles. He is known as one of the best captains to have played in the league as Mumbai achieved tremendous success under his leadership. He will be seen in IPL 2025 but only as a pure batter.
RCB to play tournament opener
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will open their IPL 2025 campaign against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. RCB finished in the fourth spot last season as they bowed out after losing to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator.
Rajat Patidar will lead the Royal Challengers in IPL 2025 after he was appointed the captain ahead of the likes of Virat Kohli. Faf du Plessis led the team in the last three seasons but wasn't signed by the franchise in this year's auction.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians finished last in the points table in IPL 2024 under Hardik Pandya's leadership. However, he has been trusted for the role of captaincy yet again.
Mumbai will open their account against Chennai Super Kings on March 23 in Chennai. Suryakumar Yadav will lead MI in this game in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who will serve a one-match ban continued from last year.
