Rohit Sharma is trending on social media as his instructions from the dugout helped Mumbai Indians to end Delhi Capitals’ winning streak in the ongoing IPL 2025. Rohit Sharma made way for Karn Sharma as an impact player when Mumbai Indians were defending 2025/5 against Delhi Capitals in the 29th game of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 13.

Well, the Hitman might have been watching the proceedings from the dugout with the Mumbai Indians’ coaching staff, but he had an eye on every detail of the match, as the five-time champions were on a mission to break Delhi Capitals’ four-match winning streak in the tournament, and that too at their home ground.

At the start of the 14th over, the Indian captain gave a signal to Karn Sharma to switch the ball. The ball had become dry by then, and Rohit’s smart move paid off. This season, a new IPL rule allows the bowling side in night matches to change the ball after 10 overs to deal with the dew.

Mumbai took advantage of this rule. With the second ball in hand, Karn Sharma struck on his third delivery, dismissing Naman Dhir. He came back in his next over and removed the dangerous KL Rahul. Later, Vipraj Nigam tried to fight back with some big hits, but Mitchell Santner dismissed him in the 18th over, and this time also Rohit’s trick also did wonders for MI.

On the 19th, Mumbai wrapped up the match with three back-to-back run outs, as they thrashed Delhi Capitals by 12 runs to record their second victory of the ongoing IPL 2025. After MI’s thrilling win over DC, fans have been demanding Rohit’s return as MI captain on social media.

Well, there’s no doubt that Rohit Sharma is one of the best captains the IPL has ever seen. He led the Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and is the joint-most successful captain in the tournament’s history, along with MS Dhoni, who also won five titles for Chennai Super Kings as captain.

But Rohit’s successful journey as MI captain came to an unexpected end last year when Hardik Pandya was made the new captain of the team. However, Rohit is going through a rough phase of his IPL career with the bat, amassing only 56 runs in 5 games so far this season.
