Young Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan took a sharp catch on the third day of the ongoing Test match against England in Dharamsala. Sarfaraz displayed his exceptional fielding skills to secure the wicket of England opener Zak Crawley in the second innings on Day 3.

India lost their last two wickets for just four runs in the first session of the third day. Veteran pacer James Anderson dismissed Kuldeep Yadav to complete his 700th wicket in Test cricket. Shoaib Bashir completed his five-wicket haul as India was bowled out for 477.

The Rohit Sharma-led side took a massive 259-run lead after the completion of the first innings by both teams. The home team picked up early wickets in England’s first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Ben Duckett for just two runs in his first over of the day.

Ravichandran Ashwin claimed Zak Crawley’s wicket in the sixth over of England’s second innings. Crawley attempted a flick off Ashwin’s off-break but edged it to Sarfaraz Khan, who was stationed at leg slip. Sarfaraz completed the sharp reflex catch and erupted in joy.

Zak Crawley faced pressure from dot balls in his recent appearance in the ongoing five-match series. The right-handed batter was dismissed after scoring one run off 16 balls. He concluded the series with 407 runs in 10 innings at an average of 40.71, including four fifties.

Ashwin went on to pick up his third wicket of the session, dismissing England’s vice captain, Ollie Pope, for 19 runs. The Ben Stokes-led side lost three wickets for 36 runs. The visiting team needs to score a massive total in the second innings to stay alive in the match.

England Bowled Out For 218 Runs In First Innings Of Fifth Test

Earlier, the England team managed to score just 218 runs in their first innings on the opening day. They failed to capitalize on the good start as they were 175/3 at one stage. They lost all ten wickets to Indian spinners, including Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja.

Zak Crawley top-scored for England with 79 runs from 108 deliveries, including one six and 11 fours. Kuldeep Yadav impressed with a five-wicket haul, while Ravichandran Ashwin contributed with four wickets. Ravindra Jadeja secured the crucial dismissal of Joe Root.

In response, the Indian team managed to compile a formidable total of 477 runs in the first innings. Skipper Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110) smashed centuries, while Yashasvi Jaiswal (57), Devdutt Padikkal (65), and Sarfaraz Khan (56) scored half-centuries.
