Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur have grabbed a lot of eyeballs with their performances in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Both the out-of-favour cricketers have shown that they still have a lot to offer on the cricket field.
Thakur is plying his trade for Lucknow Super Giants this season while Karun Nair is a part of the Delhi Capitals team.
Shardul Thakur went unsold in the IPL Mega Auction
Thakur had gone unsold in the mega auction before LSG signed him as an injury replacement for Mohsin Khan.
The right-arm pacer totally justified the franchise's decision as he hit the ground running in IPL 2025.
In his first two games, he picked up six wickets and has not looked back since then. He is currently LSG's leading wicket-taker in IPL 2025. In eight games, Shardul Thakur has claimed 12 wickets.

On the other hand, Karun Nair was bought by Delhi Capitals in the auction but struggled to get a chance in the playing eleven in the first four games.

He got a chance in the playing eleven only because Faf du Plessis was injured and grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Playing his first game in the IPL since 2022, the right-handed batsman smashed 89 runs off just 40 balls with the help of 12 fours and 5 sixes. It was his first IPL fifty since 2018.
Shardul Thakur and Karun Nair are all set to face each other now when LSG and DC lock horns against each other in the 40th game of IPL 2025. With Nair batting in the top order and Thakur opening the bowling for LSG this season, they are set to be involved in an intense duel.
And ahead of the clash, Thakur and Nair shared a light-hearted moment with each other during the training session. It all began when Thakur was speaking to DC captain Axar Patel and decided to pull Nair's legs, saying that the batsman should be batting alone in the nets and not sharing it with anyone.
In reply, Nair told Thakur: "Take what you get, have you heard about it?" Nair's comments left Axar and Thakur in splits before the DC batter walked away.
