Watch: Shikhar Dhawan returns to Indian dressing room to present fielding medal to Axar Patel

India National Cricket Team all-rounder Axar Patel was crowned as the fielder of the match for his heroics against Pakistan National Cricket Team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The match between the teams took place on Sunday (23rd February) at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.

India National Cricket Team registered their second win of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as they dominated their arch-rivals Pakistan National Cricket Team. The Rohit Sharma-led side completed a thumping 6-wicket win and continued their good record over the opposition.

India National Cricket Team was spot on with their batting, bowling as well as fielding. The likes of Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shreyas Iyer chipped in at crucial stages, and a collective effort saw the Rohit Sharma-led side winning the game comfortably.

While it was a great day for the team as well as the fans, the fielding medal ceremony was one of the things that stole the limelight. It all started with India captain Rohit Sharma hilariously mocking fielding coach T Dilip to be in a serious mood and keep laughing.

After fielding coach T Dilip praised the team for their efforts, he announced the contenders. The first one was Ravindra Jadeja, the second was Axar Patel, who ran out Imam-ul-Haq with a brilliant throw, and the third was Shreyas Iyer for his incredible efforts of running all across the ground.

And in what was the biggest surprise for the players, former player Shikhar Dhawan arrived inside the dressing room to announce the winner, leaving all the players elated. Dhawan then announced Axar Patel as the winner and presented him with the medal as the atmosphere inside the camp looked joyous.

Good fielding unit is like the Formula 1 pit crew - T Dilip

T Dilip was amazed at the way Indian players were electric on the field, saying that a good fielding unit is like the Formula 1 pit crew. He also lauded KL Rahul for backing the players behind the stumps before announcing the contenders. He said:

"I think the way we cut the angles, the backing up was superb today. And the feedback from the KL was the accuracy at which the throws came was amazing. That resulted in five direct hits today. That's terrific stuff. Good fielding unit is like the Formula 1 pit crew. Why? Which makes split-second decisions and there is no hesitation on that. And that's what exactly we did with those two runouts, crucial runouts at the important match. Well done."

Shikhar Dhawan, who announced the winner, congratulated the entire Indian unit for winning against Pakistan. He also hailed support staff for creating a joyous environment before giving a medal to Axar Patel.
