Team India young cricketer Shubman Gill was dismissed after a forgettable leave off New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel on Day 3 of the ongoing third Test match. Shubman Gill managed to score just one run before being dismissed at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, October 3.

The Indian bowlers took 14 balls to take the last wicket in New Zealand's second innings of the ongoing Test match. Ravindra Jadeja removed Ajaz Patel to complete his second five-wicket haul of the match. The visiting team was bowled out for 174 runs and set a target of 147 for the Rohit Sharma-led side.

The dismissal came in the fourth over of India's second innings. Ajaz Patel bowled a flighted delivery with the seam pointing towards the first slip. Shubman Gill misjudged the ball that went straight after pitching to hit the timber. Gill was disappointed with his dismissal after missing the straight ball from Ajaz.

India Lost Five Wickets For Just 29 Runs In Final Innings

Team India started the chase with the wicket of Rohit Sharma, who scored 11 runs off 11 balls, during the third over. Kohli departed to the dressing room after adding just one run to his name. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 5 runs off 16 balls, was the fourth batter to be dismissed in the final innings of the Test match.

Rishabh Pant And Shubman Gill Were Absolutely Fantastic - Ryan ten Doeschate

Team India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate expressed optimism about the team winning the match on the third day of the match. Ten Doeschate praised Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill for their impressive performances on a challenging wicket in the first innings.

"Certainly going to be the last day of the series. Feel we've played better cricket here, Rishabh and Shubman were absolutely fantastic on a wicket which is becoming tougher and tougher. We know that the chase will be tough, but we've put ourselves up in a good position after playing two good days of cricket so far," Doeschate said.

"New Zealand have been fantastic, especially coming from Sri Lanka where they seem to have struggled. They've come up with some strong game plans and have done well in the conditions. I think we can break it into three parts."

"Bengaluru, the toss was very crucial. Pune, there was one session that really hurt us. By and large, we want to be better in these conditions, there has been a lot of talk on overseas performances. but we've to be better than we have been in the three games so far."
