Jos Buttler, on Friday (June 21), took one of the best catches of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to send back Quinton de Kock during the Super 8 game between South Africa and England in St Lucia.
The kind of form Quinton de Kock was in, England needed something special to get rid of him and their captain rose to the occasion. The England wicketkeeper took an absolute blinder behind the stumps to help his team get rid of the Proteas opener.
On the fifth ball of the 12th over, Jofra Archer bowled a slower short ball outside the off stump. De Kock tried to play a cut shot but failed to make good contact. He ended up edging the ball behind the stumps although it looked like he would be safe as the ball was far from Jos Buttler. At first, it looked like the ball would race away for a four.
However, Jos Buttler had other ideas. The England star made a full-length dive to his leaped and took the catch with his outstretched left hand.

Before being dismissed, de Kock scored a quickfire fifty to give South Africa a quick start after they were asked to bat first. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 65 runs with the help of four fours and as many sixes. He and Reeza Hendricks shared an 86-run stand for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed for 19 off 25 balls. At the time of writing this report, South Africa were on 113 for 4 in the 15th over.
Both the teams have started their Super 8 campaign with a win and a win in the ongoing game will all but seal a spot in the semifinal for the winner. England began their Super 8 campaign with a fine win over co-hosts West Indies. On the other hand, South Africa beat the USA to register their fifth win in as many games in the tournament.
