Young Worcestershire fast bowler Tom Taylor knocked over Somerset opener George Thomas with an unplayable delivery in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2024 season. Tom Taylor cleaned up George Thomas on the first ball of Somerset's innings in a crucial Group A match of the ongoing one-day tournament.

Somerset secured a five-wicket victory over Worcestershire at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton on Friday, August 9. Somerset has secured their fifth victory out of seven matches in the group stage so far. Worcestershire is in second place in the Group A table despite losing the recent match.

Defending 264, Tom Taylor delivered a remarkable in-swinger on the first ball of Somerset's run chase. Tom clean bowled George Thomas and sent him back to the pavilion for a golden duck. George shouldered arms to the outside off-stump delivery that came into the batter after pitching.

"What a delivery that is! A massive in-swinger. That is absolutely boomerang. This is going to go all over social media tonight. That's from outside. That's from the wide line," a commentator said.

Tom Taylor Top Scorer For Worcestershire 

The first-ball wicket was Tom Taylor's only success as Somerset chased down 264 with 33 balls to spare. Taylor ended with 1-50 from eight overs. For Somerset, Andrew Umeed (44), Lewis Goldsworthy (95), James Rew (70), Archie Vaughan (31*), and Ben Green (23*) made valuable contributions with the bat.

Earlier in the match, Tom Taylor was the top scorer for the Worcestershire team. The all-rounder scored 73 runs off 65 balls with the help of seven boundaries and three sixes. The Worcestershire team was bowled out for 263 in 47.3 overs. Rigth-arm fast bowler Ben Green took 3 wickets for 58 runs in his nine overs.

Worcestershire openers Ed Pollock (30) and Gareth Roderick (35) built a solid foundation before their dismissals. Jake Libby (24) and Rob Jones (14) also fell cheaply, leaving Worcestershire struggling at 117 for 5. Taylor hit a quick half-century and added crucial runs.
