The MI vs LSG match was not a memorable one for the home team Mumbai Indians and neither for their fans. MI lost the match by 18 runs chasing 216 to win against LSG and finished with 10 losses in the season.

Lucknow Super Giants were also eliminated from the tournament as they ended with seven wins and as many losses in the tournament. In the end, they finished with 6th position on the points table.

While there was an intense on-field battle between the two teams, there was a battle off the field as well. Fans from both teams had a fight while the match was on as well. Very seemingly, the fight was started by the MI fans as they instigated the LSG fans into the fight. A few people started hitting each other that was when the security guards at the stadium had to intervene and separate the two parties.

LSG batted first in the match, scoring a more than competitive 214/6. KL Rahul (55) and Nicholas Pooran (75 off 29) had a partnership of 109 in the middle overs that took the Super Giants to that massive score.

The target proved too heavy for MI in the end as none of the batters apart from Rohit Sharma (68 off 28) were able to take on the LSG bowlers. Nuwan Thusara and Piyush Chawla picked three wickets each for MI.

The LSG bowlers restricted MI to 196/6 in their 20 overs. The lack of partnerships proved to be the key for Mumbai Indians as they were way behind in the match. For LSG, Naveen-Ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi picked up 2 wickets each while Krunal Pandya and Mohsin Khan picked up a wicket each.

Both the captains reflected back on the bygone season. KL Rahul the LSG skipper was a disappointed man despite his team finishing the season with a win. To make matters worse, Rahul was axed from the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad as well. He was a part of the squad that played in the last World Cup.

"Very disappointing, at the beginning of the season I felt we had a strong team and all bases covered. A couple of injuries at the start, that always happens but those really hampered us. We did not come together as bowlers and batters earlier, it was a good game today" Rahul said.

Hardik Pandya, the MI skipper also reflected back on the team's season. Mumbai Indians have now finished last in two of the last three seasons. They made it to the playoffs in IPL 2023.

"Did not play good quality cricket, eventually costed us the whole season. It's a professional world. Have to always come out and put our best foot forward. But yes, as a group we could not play quality cricket or smart cricket. Too early to point out what went wrong. The whole season kind of went wrong. We can pass this game as another one (that went wrong)" said Hardik.

Both Hardik and Rohit will now feature together for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean.
