Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli created history with his batting performance in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Thursday, April 10, against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli became the first-ever cricketer in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to complete 1000 boundaries.
Virat Kohli scores 22 runs against Delhi Capitals
Kohli played a decent knock for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the match against Delhi Capitals and took them off to a flying start by building up a 61-run stand in 24 balls with explosive opener Phil Salt.
Things were going pretty well for RCB, but a mix-up between Salt and Kohli led to the former's dismissal, and it triggered a collapse. Devdutt Padikkal got out next and Kohli followed him back to the hut in the 7th over.
On the last ball of the 7th over, Vipraj Nigam bowled an outside off-stump delivery to Kohli, who was late in the shot and tried to go inside-out.
He played an ugly-looking slap without control and the ball went towards long off, where Mitchell Starc charged around to his left and slid forward to take a brilliant catch and send the batter packing.
Kohli walked back to the hut after scoring 22 runs off 14 balls, with one four and 2 sixes. Although Kohli didn't play a big knock, he created history by becoming the first batter to smash 1000 boundaries in the IPL.
Most boundaries in IPL:

Virat Kohli is in form - Wasim Jaffer
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals clash, the former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer talked about the poor performance of RCB in their previous match against Gujarat Titans.
He said that the poor showing with the bat in the powerplay cost them the match. Jaffer added that the powerplay failure is not something that will happen with RCB consistently as Phil Salt is a quality player and Virat Kohli is in form. He elaborated:
"If you lose three wickets in the powerplay, obviously, that's going to hurt. And that's exactly what happened. Siraj dented their top order. But they've got most boxes ticked in the other department. Phil Salt, like Sanjay said, he's a top player and he's not going to fail consistently. And he gives them blistering starts.
"So, once he gets going, Kohli is in form. The rest of the batters look pretty good. Their fast bowlers are pretty sorted. And Suyash and Krunal also. So, they've got most bases covered. And they look like a very solid unit this time around. Won't be far away from a home win."
