Virat Kohli has finally arrived in Sri Lanka ahead of the three-match ODI series, which will begin on July 2 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. But during a practice session for the ODI squad, an unwanted incident caught the eye of Virat Kohli.

The 35-year-old was shadow-practicing his shots while the teammates were sitting right in front of him. Suddenly, a person raised chants of 'Chokli-chokli', which immediately caught Kohli's attention.

Virat Kohli looked at the guy in anger and it was clear in his eyes that he was not happy with that person. Although he did not take any physical step towards the guy, it was clear that Kohli was not pleased with him.

'Chokli' is a slang used by many users on social media to show their dissatisfaction and disrespect towards Virat Kohli. It is a term derived from a mix of 'Kohli' and 'choker'. The term started on social media platforms from India's 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final loss to New Zealand, in which Kohli scored just 1 run.

It was the third time that Kohli had been dismissed for 1 run in an ICC knockout match. Earlier, he was dismissed for the same score in the ODI World Cup 2015 semi-final against Australia and the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan as well.

India's ODI squad arrives in Colombo

Virat Kohli arrived in Colombo on Monday (29 July) morning. Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, and other players in the ODI squad were supposed to take part in a training session on Monday morning but it was canceled due to rain.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be playing for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados. India won that final by beating South Africa by 7 runs, thus ending its long wait for an ICC trophy. After the final, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirements from the T20I format.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not supposed to be a part of India's Sri Lanka tour earlier. But since India is scheduled to play limited ODI matches before next year's Champions Trophy, both the stalwarts were asked by the head coach Gautam Gambhir to be available for the series.

Rohit Sharma be leading the side for the ODI series as India prepares to find the right combination for the Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be held in February-March next year.
