Virat Kohli, on Monday (September 30), survived a run-out scare as Khaled Ahmed missed the easiest of chances on day four of the ongoing second India vs Bangladesh Test at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
The incident took place in the 19th over. Virat Kohli was new to the crease and had faced only three deliveries thus far. And on the very first ball of the 19th over, his knock would have come to an end. However, the former India skipper managed to survive thanks to Khaled Ahmed's shocking blunder.
Khaled bowled one just outside the off stump and Virat Kohli wanted to drive the ball on the up. However, he could not make good contact with the ball and ended up under-edging the ball next to the pitch. His partner Rishabh Pant called for a quick single and the veteran batsman duly obliged.
However, Pant quickly changed his mind and decided against going for the run after realizing the danger. By the time, Virat Kohli could realise it, he was stranded halfway down the pitch. In the meantime, Khaled picked the ball and had all the time in the world to take the bails off. Virat Kohli had given up as well.
However, the Bangladesh bowler squandered the golden opportunity as he failed to hit the stumps with an underarm throw. Khaled had ample time to just run up to the stumps and take the bails off. However, his poor decision-making gave Kohli a huge reprieve. Soon after that, Pant was seen giving Kohli a huge while sporting a sheepish smile.
