The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opening batsman Phil Salt got run out after a horrible mix-up with Virat Kohli in the match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday, April 10.
The 24th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Delhi Capitals is currently underway at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Phil Salt falls after playing an explosive knock
Salt came out all guns blazing and played an attacking brand of cricket from the very first over. He took the DC bowlers to the cleaners and made sure he took RCB off to a flying start.
His best came in the 3rd over when he absolutely annihilated the premier Delhi Capitals (DC) left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. Salt went berserk against Starc and smashed him all over the park in the 30-run over. However, in the very next over, he got out in an unfortunate manner.
On the 5th ball of the over, Salt played a ball from Axar Patel towards the left of cover and took off for a quick single. However, after reaching the middle of the pitch, he was sent back by Virat Kohli. While trying to return, Salt slipped, lost all the momentum, and then had no chance of beating the throw from Vipraj as KL Rahul quickly collected the ball and removed the bails.
Phil Salt was back in the hut after scoring 37 runs off 17 balls, with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Notably, Kohli has been involved in 32 runs out in IPL cricket, in which he has got out 8 times, and his partners have been run out 24 times.

I would back the batting to come good - Sanjay Bangar
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals clash, the former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar talked about RCB not performing well in their home matches.
He said that Phil Salt won't fail on a consistent basis and the likes of Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone have been in form in IPL 2025. Bangar added that in both bowling and batting departments, RCB have got quality players and they would bounce back strong. He said:
"I think as of now, they've just played one home match and that hasn't gone their way. But I would back the batting to come good once again because Phil Salt has missed out on a couple of occasions now. I don't think that's going to happen on a consistent basis. So, with Phil Salt firing and the other batsmen have performed so far, including Liam Livingstone, Jitesh, how they've batted, they've great depth in the batting as well.
"And the emergence of Suyash Sharma because not many gave him a great chance of bowling four overs but he's been doing that pretty well. And the pace bowling is quite sorted. So, bowling-wise, batting-wise, I believe that they're at the top of the game at the moment."
