The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli was absolutely furious after the skipper Rajat Patidar dropped the catch of the Delhi Capitals (DC) star batsman KL Rahul on Thursday, April 10.

The 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) is currently underway at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Rajat Patidar gives a lifeline to KL Rahul

Rahul has looked in tremendous touch in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He scored an explosive 15 runs while batting in the middle overs against SRH and then scored a match-winning 77 against CSK while opening the innings.

In the ongoing game against DC, he was once again pushed back to the middle-order with the return of Faf du Plessis at the top of the order. Meanwhile, his innings could have ended in the 4th over itself at the score of 7, but that didn't happen due to Rajat Patidar's mistake on the field.

On the 2nd ball of the 4th over, Yash Dayal bowled a length ball swinging away from the off-stump. Rahul cleared his front leg and went for a heave but got a leading edge over extra cover.

RCB skipper Rajat Patidar, from mid-off, hared across and reached under the ball very quickly. He then dived sideways and got both his hands to the ball, but it popped out of his hands, and even on the second attempt, he couldn't hold on to it.

Looking at his skipper Rajat Patidar drop the star batsman, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli was absolutely angry, and he screamed loudly.

"Rajat Patidar is doing extremely well as the new Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain"

Speaking ahead of the match on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra hailed Rajat Patidar for his brilliant captaincy in the IPL 2025. He further lauded the RCB skipper for making brilliant contributions with the bat for his team. Aakash Chopra elaborated:

"They are doing really well. The first thing is that Rajat Patidar is doing extremely well as the new Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain. He is managing the team beautifully. He scores runs at a strike rate of 200 when he comes to bat. He used to hit only straight earlier,but is also playing the scoop shots now because people have started placing fielders in different places. He is doing all of that and a lot more.

"In captaincy, he managed with five bowlers. He beat Mumbai in Mumbai with only five bowlers. He is utilizing them very well as to when to bring on Yash Dayal and when to bring on Josh Hazlewood. Spin bowling has been a concern, but Suyash Sharma has bowled well in patches. Krunal Pandya bowled well in the first match and the last match. There is no problem seeing which you would say RCB would have to change that to progress."
