Virat Kohli was in tears and struggled to contain his emotions after Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinched the historic IPL trophy with a thrilling win over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday (June 3).
The Bengaluru-based outfit finally ended its 18-year long wait for an IPL trophy with the triumph this week. And one man who saw the whole journey from close quarters is Virat Kohli.

The right-handed batsman was signed as a teenager by RCB before the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008 and has been with the same team since then.
Virat Kohli is the only player to represent the same team in the 18 IPL seasons so far and was finally rewarded for his loyalty and perseverance on Tuesday. As RCB was edging closer to the win, Virat Kohli struggled to contain his emotions. Even before the match was over, he was in tears while fielding.
After the game ended, Virat Kohli regained his composure and celebrated the win with his teammates. He shared warm hugs with his teammates and looked animated after finally being able to win the IPL final.

RCB beat PBKS in final
Coming to the game, RCB beat Punjab Kings by 6 runs to win their maiden title. Chasing 191 runs, Punjab Kings finished their innings on 184/7. The Shreyas Iyer-led side lost wickets at crucial junctures throughout the match and it eventually hurt them.
Shashank Singh waged a lone battle for Punjab, scoring an unbeaten 61 runs off 30 balls including 3 fours and 6 sixes.
Earlier in the game, RCB finished their innings on 190/9 after being asked to bat first. Virat Kohli was the top-scorer for the Bengaluru-based outfit, scoring 43 runs off 35 balls. For PBKS, Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh were the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets each.
Phil Salt was off to a quick start but did not last long and was dismissed for 16 runs by Jamieson in the second over. The likes of Kohli, Mayank Agarwal (24), Rajat Patidar (26) and Liam Livingstone (25) got the start but could not convert it into a big score. Jitesh Sharma also played an important knock of 24 runs from just 10 balls.
