Star Indian batter Virat Kohli has been facing hostility from the Australian crowd during the Boxing Day Test following his altercation with Sam Konstas on Day 1. The boos grew even louder when Virat Kohli was dismissed and headed back to the dressing room in India's first innings on the second day.
The Pat Cummins-led team was bowled out for 474 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday, December 27. Australia's top three batters scored half-centuries, while Steve Smith scored his second century in the series. In response, the Rohit Sharma-led side ended the second day's play at 164-5.
Virat Kohli Caught Behind Again in First Innings of Fourth Test
Virat Kohli displayed disciplined batting during his innings on the second day. Kohli avoided shots outside the off-stump, which have troubled him recently. He added 102 runs with young Yashasvi Jaiswal for the third wicket, stabilizing the innings after the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma (3) and KL Rahul (24).
Kohli looked confident, leaving deliveries and delighting fans with a few elegant drives and cuts. However, a miscommunication between him and Jaiswal led to the latter being run out after a well-made 82 off 118 balls. Kohli shortly edged a wide delivery to wicketkeeper Alex Carey off Scott Boland's bowling.

The 36-year-old batter was dismissed after scoring 36 runs off 86 balls, including four boundaries. A loud chorus of boos erupted from the MCG crowd as he walked back to the dressing room. The hostility intensified when Kohli entered the tunnel, where a spectator hurled a verbal remark that provoked him.
Kohli turned back to confront the individual but was quickly calmed by an MCG official who placed a hand on his shoulder and walked him away from the fans. Security personnel prevented further escalation, and the incident captured the attention of Indian fans across social media platforms on the internet.

That Wicket Gave Us a Little Opening - Pat Cummins
Speaking after the day’s play, Pat Cummins praised his team’s performance, especially Steve Smith’s efforts in the morning session. Cummins was delighted about picking up late wickets to gain an edge in the game. He noted that breaking the 100-run stand between Kohli and Jaiswal was a crucial turning point.
"Smith was great this morning. Good to get those late wickets in the end. Sets the game for us. Yeah, I wish I could do it every ball. Happens very rarely, so you take it when it comes. (on his ball to dismiss KL Rahul)," Cummins said.
"Really happy with how I bowled and the rest of the guys as well. Yeah, that's it. 100 run partnership and they were looking solid. Marsh nearly got the breakthrough for us. But yeah, a wicket anytime is handy. But that wicket gave us a little opening. I feel like I am letting everyone down when he is not bowling. Scotty (Boland) was awesome. Every time he comes into the side, he is awesome."
