Virat Kohli tried to run out New Zealand's Ish Sodhi in a cheeky way during the third Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai. The incident happened after the 60th over of New Zealand's first innings, bowled by Washington Sundar, came to an end.
In the last ball of the over, Mitchell took a single which brought Sodhi to the striker's end. At the end of the over, Sodhi left the crease after completing the run. As he left his crease, Kohli took off the bails and cheekily appealed to the square leg umpire.
However, the umpire refused to entertain his appeal and gave it not out. Kohli knew that the batter was not out and shared a laugh later as Sodhi looked on. It was a light moment between Virat Kohli and Michael Gough on a hot and humid day in Mumbai.

While Virat Kohli provided something for the crowd to cheer, his batting will be something that will be in focus. The 35-year-old hasn't been in great form recently and has been struggling to score runs in Tests. Virat Kohli will be expected to score big in front of a passionate crowd at Wankhede Stadium.
Ravindra Jadeja dismisses Ish Sodhi in next over
Ish Sodhi couldn't last long and was dismissed in the next over by Ravindra Jadeja. The left-arm spinner angled a full ball from around the wicket and got it to turn past Sodhi's outside edge.
The ball hit Sodhi on the pads as he was hanging back in the crease. Umpire Michael Gough had no hesitation in giving it out this time. Sodhi thought about using the DRS and consulted with his partner Mitchell.
But he knew that he was found plumb in front and decided to go away without using the review. Sodhi was dismissed for just 7 as New Zealand's innings slid further. It was again a brilliant piece of bowling from Ravindra Jadeja, who had a great day with the ball.
Ravindra Jadeja completes a five-wicket haul
Jadeja struck two balls later to dismiss Matt Henry for a duck. With Henry's wicket, Jadeja completed his five-wicket haul. Seeing the tailenders getting out quickly, Daryl Mitchell decided to attack and took on the bowlers.
But his fight was shortened by the offspinner Washington Sundar as he was caught brilliantly at slip by Rohit Sharma. Mitchell missed out on a well-deserved hundred and was out for 82 off 129 balls. He struck 3 fours and 3 sixes during his knock.
Three balls later, Sundar trapped Ajaz Patel in front of the stumps as the batter tried to leave a straight ball. Patel was dismissed for 7 as New Zealand were bundled out for 235 in their first innings.
