Yashasvi Jaiswal falls short of a fifty against RCB

Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased a batting masterclass while chasing the target of 206 runs against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He played an attacking brand of cricket from the ball one and smashed the bowlers all over the ground.

The innings also saw a high-voltage battle between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Josh Hazlewood. It began in the fourth over when Jaiswal hit the pacer for three fours on the trot after playing three dot balls.

Jaiswal continued attacking the pacer in the 6th over and slammed back-to-back fours before launching him for an incredible six. However, the veteran pacer bounced back and dismissed him with a short-length ball that Jaiswal hit in the hands of the mid-wicket fielder.

After dismissing Jaiswal for a 19-ball 49, Josh Hazlewood gave him a brutal send-off, gesturing him to go back to the dugout. This didn't sit well with Jaiswal, who looked furious and hurled a mouthful before walking back. Also, the on-field umpire gave a warning to the RCB captain Rajat Patidar after the incident.

So far we have been good - Romario Shepherd

Speaking ahead of the match, Romario Shepherd expressed disappointment over Royal Challengers Bengaluru registering a hat-trick of losses at home. He also talked about his role in the team. He said:

"Nah, I haven’t played at this ground yet, so it’s a special night for me. So far we have been good but we are still disappointed that we have not won a single game at home. We know how much the fans support us out here. Hopefully, tonight is the night.

"Firstly, the way we bat in this venue is not up to the standard. Tonight is the day to bat better. I had my opportunity last game and I did fairly decent so I hope that in this game I can do better for the team and contribute for a win. (Describing his role) My role basically is to enforce whenever I get an opportunity to bat. I want to go there and get some quick runs for the team. Put the pressure back on the bowler. Whenever I have the ball in hand, I try to get a wicket and concede as less as possible."

While talking about the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Romario Shepherd stated that RR have a good team and they need to be at their best to beat them. He elaborated:

"(Facing RR tonight) Well its a good team. They have a good batting line-up and a good bowling line-up. It's a good challenge for us at this ground where we haven’t been successful so far. Tonight is a big challenge for us. Hopefully we can come out with a win.

"Facing Hetmyer) Hopefully I can get his wicket because he was my first wicket in cricket. Hopefully, tonight I can take his wicket. He knows that I am coming for him and he is coming for me."
