Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has shown great patience and determination to notch up a fifty in the second innings after getting out for a duck in the first innings in the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia at Optus Stadium in Perth.

However, Jaiswal's grit irked the Australian players, and as usual, they tried to distract the Indian players in the ongoing first Test in Perth. After Nathan Lyon’s failed tactic against Rishabh Pant, Marnus Labuschagne tried to get under the skin of Yashasvi on Day 2 of the Perth Test.

India couldn't have hoped for a more great day against Australia in Perth. The tourists have seized control of the first Test, capitalizing on a remarkable shift in the pitch's behavior from Day 1, when it was a lively green surface, offering plenty of movement, but it has now turned into flatter.
The Indian cricket team took a 218-run lead on Day 2, and they would love to trouble Australian bowlers more on Day 3 to post a challenging target on the board, as scoring seems to be easy in the latter stage of the match in the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Yashasvi Jaiswal shatters Gautam Gambhir's record during first Test
Meanwhile, Jaiswal made history on Day 2 of the Perth Test on November 23, as he surpassed Gautam Gambhir's long-standing record. Jaiswal now holds the record for the most runs by an Indian left-handed batter in a calendar year, overtaking Gambhir's tally of 1134 runs in 2008.
Gambhir's record stood for 16 years. The current Indian head coach had achieved this record with an impressive average of 70.67 from 8 matches, including 6 fifties and 3 centuries, in 2008. Jaiswal currently has 1161 runs at an average of 55.28 to his name.
