New Zealand pacer William O'Rourke wreaked havoc on India’s batting line-up in the ongoing first Test of the three-match Test series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After dismissing Virat Kohli for duck, William O'Rourke has struck again to get another big Indian fish. On the fifth ball of the 21st over, Yashasvi Jaiswal presented a perfect gift to New Zealand off William O'Rourke’s short and wide delivery at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
William O'Rourke's impressive spell continues, as Yashasvi Jaiswal falls to a stunning catch by Ajaz Patel in 1st Test
O'Rourke delivered a short and wide ball, and Yashasvi Jaiswal saw it as an opportunity to attack. However, Ajaz Patel made a fantastic diving catch to his left at backward point to end the young Indian opener’s innings at 13 runs off 63 balls, including one four. Jaiswal stood at his crease in amazement, questioning whether the catch was taken cleanly.
Well, Ajaz Patel showed some excellent fielding and completed a stunning catch diving low to the left at backward point to help New Zealand secure their fourth wicket in Bengaluru. Yashasvi Jaiswal was in great form with the bat, but the prevailing conditions and desperation for runs cost him badly.

KL Rahul also becomes the bunny of William O'Rourke
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team has found itself in serious danger, as they lost their fifth wicket in the form of the local lad KL Rahul, who also became the victim of William O'Rourke. Rahul was caught out by Tom Blundell for a duck. He shook his head as he walked off the field after facing only six balls.
With both leg slip and short leg in place, William O'Rourke continued with a short-of-length delivery down the leg side, slightly fuller than the previous one. Eager to open his account, KL Rahul attempted to connect with the ball, seemingly ignoring the two nearby fielders.
His tentative shot resulted in a faint edge to the New Zealand wicketkeeper, Tom Blundell. The edge was audible, showcasing O'Rourke’s excellent bowling in terms of line and length. Now, India’s all hopes hang on Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin and to save their pride.
Ravindra Jadeja surrenders to Matt Henry in Bengaluru
Azaz Patel got another brilliant catch as Matt Henry got rid of Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for a duck in Bengaluru. Jadeja tried to play leg-side, but the ball was caught on the off-side, with Team India reeling at 34/6 before the lunch break in the ongoing first Test in Bengaluru.
Notably, India's score of 34 runs at the fall of the sixth wicket is their lowest at home since 1969. Their previous lowest score was 27 runs, set during a match against New Zealand in Hyderabad. New Zealand has yet to secure a Test series victory in India across 12 attempts. Their last Test match win in India came in 1988 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
