Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed beat young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with a sensational delivery during the opening day of the first Test match.
However, Taskin Ahmed failed to produce the edge off Yashasvi Jaiswal’s bat to give his team a breakthrough in the ongoing red-ball match.
Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto opted to bowl first after winning the toss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, September 19.
The visiting team’s bowlers made the most of the pace-friendly conditions to trouble Indian batters in the first session on Day 1.

Rohit Sharma Dismissed For Six Runs In 1st Session
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also survived the second ball of the next over. Hasan Mahmud trapped Rohit in front of the stumps, but the on-field umpire ruled in favor of the batter. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto challenged the umpire's decision, but the replays confirmed the umpire's call.
Rohit failed to capitalize on an early chance in the first innings. The right-handed batter was dismissed by Hasan for six runs on the first ball of the fifth over. Rohit played a defensive shot with soft hands, but the outside edge carried to the second slip, where Shanto completed the catch with both hands.
Hasan Mahmud also took two more wickets in the first hour. Shubman Gill nicked a delivery down the leg side to the wicketkeeper and was dismissed without scoring. Virat Kohli edged a drive at a delivery outside off stump. Kohli managed only a run-a-ball six before being dismissed.
After 10 overs, India was at 34 for the loss of three wickets. Taskin Ahmed failed to pick up any wickets in his first spell on the opening day of the match.
We Want To Make Use Of It - Najmul Hossain Shanto
After winning the toss, Najmul Hossain Shanto said that they wanted to use the moisture on the surface. Shanto expressed confidence in the team’s abilities after their series victory over Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of sticking to their processes.
"I'll like to bowl first. There's moisture on the wicket and we want to make use of it. Pitch looks hard and there's moisture. The first session will be very good for the seamers," Shanto said.
"The way we played that series (against Pakistan), we are confident. This is a new series, we'll have to follow our processes. It's a good mixture of experience and youth. We go with three seamers and two spin allrounders," he added.
